The historic village of Knowlton, on the shores of beautiful Lac Brome, invites locals and visitors to celebrate and enjoy the finest art the Eastern Townships has to offer. From Screenplay Writing to Kite Making…From Outdoor Theatre to Celtic Music Magic.  Our workshops , concerts and shows will prove once and for all that art’s alive and kicking in the Townships!

    Class Two: July 2, 12:00 - 17:00    

    Taught by Jefferson Lewis

    A hands-on workshop on the basics of screenwriting, including building characters, dramatic structure, dialogue and how to pitch your ideas. Participants will have the opportunity to submit a 5-minute screenplay for production, get professional feedback, and one will have the chance to see their work on the screen during this very festival!

    In celebration of Canada's 150th birthday, the Knowlton Players are premiering "United We Stand", by Roger de la Mare. Come enjoy the premiere of de la Mare’s new musical play! It’s a hilarious look at the quirky characters we call the Fathers of Confederation and how their unique personalities continue to affect us, their dysfunctional family. 

    Any donations from the Canada Day show will go to the Brome County Historical Society. All other donations collected will go to the Knowlton Players.

    Learn how to paint a mural with Bill Jarand - from a drawing to a large scale image.  Be part of transforming a local landmark with a fantastic local mural painter. Volunteers are needed to leave their mark!  Begins at 8am and all are welcome to stop by  behind Theatre Lac Brome and see the progress throughout the day.  Rain date July 2nd.  Free

    A hands on experience that takes you through prepping the flowers, using the proper tools, four different types of arrangement, and an exploration of dimension and flow.  You’ll create your own arrangement with Debbie’s skilful guidance.

    Come experience what astonishing music can be made on this simple Irish frame drum.  You’ll learn how to hold and tune the drum, some sticking styles with the “tipper”, how to add tonal accents on the inside of the drum and how to play a jig and a reel.  A rare chance to have a lesson with a Bodhran teacher from the Montreal Siamsa School of Irish Music!

    Outdoor Art!  On Saturday the 30th of September, Rivières de Lumières invites citizens and visitors to come out onto the streets with their lanterns and rediscover the city of Knowlton under a different light. It will be a  carnivalesque atmosphere where music, animation and lanterns will set the town alight. Want to make a   lantern for the event, or keep for yourself?  This is where this workshop comes in! Open to everyone, our artists will be guiding all participants in the creation of beautiful willow and glass lanterns. $15 Materials included, to take home your arrangement!
